Julie Dzerowicz, Member of Parliament – Davenport, rose in the House of Commons, June 7, 2016, to honour 9 leaders of the Portuguese-Canadian community who have recently been recognized for their important contributions.
These community leaders are; Jack Olivera, Frank Alvarez, Nellie Pedro, Jose Estaquio, Dr. Carlos Teixeira, Constable Peter De Quintal, Hon. Charles Sousa, Pedro Gil Vieira and António Amaro.
Through their respective work, these leaders have made Canada a more welcoming, prosperous and successful nation not only for the Portuguese community but for all Canadians.
These individuals inspire future generations of Canadians to reach their full potential and take up the baton of leadership to continue ensuring Canada remains one of the best places in the world to live. The Portuguese-Canadian community is stronger than ever thanks to these leaders.
